AIR at DragonCon 2011

The AIR team will be at D*Con again this year!! Our AIR Maelstrom LARP group will have a table on the second floor of the Hilton, and we will be hosting an AIR LARP event on Saturday, September 3, from 12 PM – 5 PM in rooms 401 and 402 of the Hilton. Come on over and take part in a high flying adventure of mad science, supernatural phenomena, and intrigue in the AIR Maelstrom setting. Also, our lead writer, G.D. Falksen (in addition to speaking at several other panels) will be speaking specifically about “The Steampunk World of AIR” at 8 PM on Friday, September 2. Check out the Alternate History panel track at DragonCon about this and other panels he’ll be speaking on. He will also be available to sign copies of his new book, Blood in the Skies, the first of three books in a series set in the AIR universe.

Our lead writer, G.D. Falksen, has just published the first of three novels set in the AIR universe. Blood In The Skies is now in print and available for sale. Check it out on Good Reads. Artist Wanted

As a precursor to the MMORPG AIR: Steampunk, Hatboy Studios will be releasing a series of graphic novels set in the world of AIR. The first graphic novel is planned for release in Spring 2011. The script is already written, and printing and distribution are set to go upon completion of the project. Hatboy Studios is looking for qualified comic book artists interested in joining this important project. We are looking for both line artists and colorists (line artists must be skilled in both penciling and inking). Applicants must be able to keep and meet their deadlines.

To apply, submit the following to airgraphicnovel@gmail.com:
1. Character samples of some kind
2. At least one full sample page of your previous graphic novel art
3. A list of your past projects
4. Your website (preferably containing your portfolio)
5. Your full name
6. Your preferred email

As extra credit, you may send a draft illustration of a female fighter pilot stepping out of her plane’s cockpit, with one foot on the edge. She should be holding a revolver in one hand. The image should have a majestic quality and contain an early 20th century (First World War era) feel. For AIR setting reference material, please consult the refined concept art folder on our Facebook fan page. This additional piece is not mandatory, but it will help us get a feel for how you are likely to approach the imagery of the setting.

Full Steam Ahead

Welcome to the new website! As you would expect, we’ve been busy over the last year, with a lot of progress to report on several fronts…

First, the Creative Team has been hard at work further developing the story, and the look, of AIR. The results of their hard work can be seen on our Facebook page! If you’re on Facebook, stop by and take a look! Last, there are some new projects, all related to the AIR setting, that are in the works right now. Be sure to check our Facebook and Twitter sites in addition to this page for more information!

Next up is our Technical Team. They’ve been doggedly hard at work, getting the AIR Client up on the latest release of the Indie Game Engine from IndieZen! This means we’ve hit a milestone, as the game client is in alpha testing right now. In addition to the great news about being in alpha testing, as you’ve noticed we now have a new site! Clean and fresh, it reflects the look and feel of the game. Here you’ll find some of the AIR history, a new forum, and areas for future expansion as the game progresses through alpha, to beta and then live. Come back to visit often, as wallpapers, screenshots and other goodies will soon become available!

So, what comes next?

From here we’ll be continuing to work the AIR client through alpha, and with it continued progress and enhancements for the Indie Game Engine.

With that … where do we go from here?

Well, the sky’s the limit of course! So full steam ahead!
